Long Live Open Source Software !!

When i want to watch my 3gp videos in my Linux Mint, i’ve got some problem. I’ve got no sound ! No matter what player i used, the sound still didn’t show up. I’ve searched in google to solve this problem. But none of them works. And then i found this great software. This software can help me convert my 3gp files into another format, so the sound show up.

This free software is called Mobile Media Converter. Mobile Media Converter is a free video and audio converter that uses ffmpeg to convert between popular desktop formats like MP3, Windows Media Audio (wma), Ogg Vorbis Audio (ogg), Wave Audio (wav), MPEG video, AVI, Windows Media Video (wmv), Flash Video (flv) and commonly used mobile phones formats like AMR audio (amr, awb) and 3GP video. Also, export to iPod/iPhone compatible MP4 video is also supported. An integrated YoutTube downloader is available for direct downloading and converting to any of these formats!

The program has a very easy-to-use and simple GUI (Graphical User Interface) that helps even the most amateur user. Most of the times, the only data that you must enter is the input file(s) or just drag ‘n’ drop the input file(s)! The 3GP and AMR formats are used by mobile phones for MMS, for video and sound recordings, etc. If you don’t know anything about parameters that usually needed for conversion, you don’t have to worry. Just enter your file, choose format, and choose quality. You converted files is ready in a minute.

Unfortunately, this application isn’t exist in repository. So you must download Mobile Media Converter from its download page. You can choose which version you want to download, setup files for Windows, deb package for ubuntu, or maybe Mobile Media Converter’s sources.

To install it in your ubuntu or linux mint, simply type this command :

dpkg -i  mmc_1.4.1_i386.deb

After that check in which directory this application is installed. You can use this command :

dpkg -L mobilemediaconverter

In my computer, Mobile Media Converter is installed in /opt/MIKSOFT/MobileMediaConverter/. To execute the program, you can’t click the icon in ubuntu main menu. Because this program must be ran in its installation directory. E.g :

cd /opt/MIKSOFT/MobileMediaConverter
./MobileMediaConverter

And then,  just choose your files to be converted. Good luck !!
