[News]T-Mobile G1, First Android Phone

G1 ScreenshotThe T-Mobile G1 will be the first cell phone to run on Google’s Linux-based Android platform. As you know, Android is the first complete, open, and free mobile platform. was developed by The Open Handset Alliance, a group of more than 30 technology and mobile companies.

As far as i know, G1 is the first open source cell phone outside there. Just like open source software, The G1 is highly dependent on developers around the world to make it better. Without their support, G1 can lose to their competitor.

G1 itself has the following feature :

  • Full Qwerty Keyboard
  • 3 Megapixel Camera
  • Customisable Home
  • Google Maps Street View
  • One-Touch Google Search

So, do you want to buy G1 now? Or maybe wait for other developer add new application? Or don’t you want to develop your own application with help from other open source developer around the world? It’s your choice. However, i think, this is a great improvement in open source world.
